HHT Announces Giulietta Fiore as Next Executive Director

With a nuanced understanding of the unique needs and exciting potential of historic landmarks, Giulietta brings experience, expertise, and extensive knowledge of New York City’s historic houses to her new role overseeing the organization.
The Historic House Trust of New York City is pleased to announce that Giulietta Fiore has been appointed its new Executive Director. She brings to the position an in-depth understanding of the unique needs of New York City’s historic house museums, and a nuanced view of the role that NYC Parks serves in maintaining these important sites.
Giulietta joined the Historic House Trust in 2019 and has held increasingly senior positions over the past six years. In 2023, she was named Deputy Director, and in 2024, she assumed the role of Acting Director. She brings to the position a thorough understanding of — and deep appreciation for — the complex responsibility of the Executive Director in maintaining and promoting the organization’s partnerships with NYC Parks as well as over 20 nonprofit organizations that operate the historic houses as museums and community centers.
“The landscape for nonprofit organizations is constantly evolving,” said Lisa Ackerman, Historic House Trust Board Chair. “Giulietta’s appointment as Executive Director comes at a time that is both challenging and exciting in our important work. With her unique institutional experience, she has the knowledge, relationships, and commitment to effectively manage the Historic House Trust’s dynamic efforts to preserve, protect, and promote our city’s 23 historic house museums.”
Giulietta begins her tenure with commitment and compassion. “Together, we have the privilege of stewarding historic sites that have survived against all odds and remain vital elements of the cultural fabric of New York City. Underpinning our work is a belief in the importance of preserving diversity in the built environment, bringing to light undertold stories, and investing in communities and public space." With strong partnerships as a foundation, Giulietta is looking toward building a sustainable future. "Preservation requires long-term thinking, and especially as the Semiquincentennial approaches, it is important to look toward the next 250 years. To accomplish our goals, we need big thinking that is proactive, innovative, and bold."
Prior to joining the Historic House Trust, Giulietta served as Director of the Brinton 1704 House & Historic Site in Pennsylvania, and worked as a field archaeologist for firms in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington State. She has a degree from McGill University in Montreal, QC, Canada, and attended the Winterthur Institute for decorative arts education in Delaware. Her experience in heritage stewardship has also opened unique opportunities to study material culture in Italy and Virginia.
