Remembering Leonard A. Lauder

The Historic House Trust of New York City is deeply saddened by the passing of Leonard A. Lauder, a visionary philanthropist and lifelong champion of the arts, culture, and public service. We are grateful for the support of The Estée Lauder Companies and the Lauder family since our organization's founding in 1989.
Mr. Lauder’s appreciation for history and beauty was evident in all he did—from his remarkable stewardship of cultural institutions to his generous support for the preservation of art and heritage. His enduring commitment to enriching the lives of others through access to culture aligns closely with the mission of the Historic House Trust, and we are profoundly grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Lauder family and to all who were touched by his extraordinary life. His passion and generosity will continue to inspire our work and the work of so many others for years to come.
