HHT INTERN OPPORTUNITIES

INTERNSHIP SUMMER 2017

The Historic House Trust is a non-profit organization operating in tandem with NYC Parks. Our mission is to provide essential support for houses of architectural and cultural significance spanning 350 years of New York City life. These treasures reside within city parks and are open to the public.

INTERNSHIP TITLE:  Archival Intern; unpaid 

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Archival Intern will assist the Curator in processing a group of mixed media materials from marionette theatre productions:

  • Assess and process materials
  • Merge group with existing finding guide; update existing finding guide
  • Create plan for storage of materials

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIAL SKILLS/AREAS OF INTEREST:

  • Graduate or post graduate student in Archival Studies or Museum Studies with archival focus
  • Desired skills include: Processing of archival materials; writing finding guides; working independently

DATE OF INTERNSHIP:

Internship to take place approximately June – August 2017; flexible. Wednesdays and/or Thursdays.

LOCATION OF INTERNSHIP:

The Arsenal and Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, Central Park, New York

Every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday (2:30pm-4:30pm) and  for special events. Training will be provided.

QUEENS COUNTY FARM MUSEUM 

Individuals ages 18 & older are invited to work alongside our farmers in the growing fields on a weekly basis from Spring–Fall on Tuesdays & Sundays, 10 am–4 pm. For information about other opportunities on the farm for groups, email info@queensfarm.org. Please note, volunteer activities do not include work with our livestock.

  • There is no need to sign-up or apply. You may drop-in for an hour or stay for the whole day. First-time volunteers, stop by our Welcome Center and a staff member will point you in the right direction.
  • Prepare to get dirty! Tasks are often physically strenuous, so wear proper outdoor work attire (hat, sunglasses, layers, rain gear, gloves, closed-toed shoes, etc.) and pack a water bottle. We invite all volunteers to join us for lunch (we provide farm salad whenever possible!).
  • NOTE: We cannont accommodate groups on Volunteer Days at this time.
